"We came here for lunch as the Toy museum next door didn't have a cafe and so glad we did. I had a venison sando on Turkish bread which honestly is one of the nicest sandwiches I have ever had. The meat was so tender and there were caramelized onions and aioli and it was just delicious. The lady on the till was very pleasant too and the view was spectacular"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crosswinds Café, Wānaka — pure magic. A spontaneous stop at the small local airport (thanks to a closed museum toilet ) led me straight to this absolute gem. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and full of character — watching planes come and go while sipping coffee is such a vibe. The coffee? Tight, perfectly balanced, and full of flavour, made with beautifully roasted beans that you can taste in every sip. Honestly excellent. Then there was the carrot cake. I’m “on a diet”… but one bite ended that conversation. Hands down the best carrot cake I’ve ever had — incredibly moist, rich, and topped with a dreamy cream cheese icing with hints of lemon and vanilla. Laura, the owner, shared that it’s a recipe from a dear friend with a secret ingredient — and yes, it’s unforgettable. Crosswinds Café isn’t just a café, it’s a happy accident you’ll be glad you found. A must-visit if you’re anywhere near Wānaka, South Island."
